EFC’s Growth Continues: Welcoming Kevin C. Giordano, Esq.

July 13, 2026
Egan, Flanagan and Cohen

The strategic growth that has defined Egan, Flanagan and Cohen, P.C. in 2026 shows no signs of slowing. Following the addition of Jonathan R. Goldsmith, Esq. and Thomas E. Argenio, Esq. in January, and Henry C. Cropsey, Esq. in February, we are proud to announce that Kevin C. Giordano, Esq. has joined EFC as Counsel — bringing with him his staff from Keyes and Donnellan, P.C., one of Springfield’s most storied law firms.

The arrival of Kevin and his team further strengthens EFC’s depth across litigation and defense practice, especially medical malpractice defense, and reflects the firm’s continued commitment to intentional strategic growth on behalf of its clients.

The Start of a New Chapter

Keyes and Donnellan, P.C. has been a fixture of the Springfield legal community since 1945. Its closure marks the end of an 81-year chapter in western Massachusetts legal history. Kevin’s staff — including three legal professionals and his office manager — joins EFC’s team, strengthening both the firm’s operational capacity and its litigation support capabilities.

A Seasoned Trial Lawyer and Trusted Advocate

Few lawyers in Western Massachusetts have tried and won more cases than Kevin C. Giordano, Esq. Kevin earned his Bachelor of Arts from St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont, and his Juris Doctor from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1985 — the same year he was admitted to the Massachusetts bar. He has been a practicing trial lawyer ever since, accumulating more than 40 years of experience in professional and general liability matters, with a particular focus on medical malpractice defense, health care law, nursing home and long-term care matters, personal injury, and insurance defense litigation.

Kevin has served as lead counsel in more than 60 state and federal civil jury trials. In addition to litigating in Massachusetts state and federal courts, he has appeared before several Massachusetts administrative agencies, including the Industrial Accident Board, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Board of Registration of Medicine, and the Board of Registration of Nursing. In 2013, he further broadened his capabilities by completing mediation training through Pepperdine University’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, one of the most respected ADR programs in the country.

Kevin has also been a sought-after lecturer, speaking to health care providers at accredited continuing education seminars across Massachusetts and nationally, as well as to attorneys and insurance professionals on trial practice, civil procedure, and electronic discovery.

Deep Roots in the Community

Like the attorneys who have joined EFC before him in 2026, Kevin brings more than legal credentials — he brings a genuine commitment to the communities he serves. He was an organizer and founding incorporator of the Wilbraham Hampden Academic Trust, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable educational foundation that raises private funding to provide grants to local schools for enrichment programs, and he has served as its President for more than a decade. He has also been a longtime youth athletic coach through his town’s recreation department.

Early in his career, Kevin served as an adjunct professor at Western New England College School of Business, Springfield College, and Our Lady of the Elms College — contributing to the education of the next generation of business and legal professionals across the region.

What Kevin’s Arrival Means for EFC

“Kevin Giordano is one of the most respected medical malpractice defense attorneys in western Massachusetts,” said Michael G. McDonough, Esq., Managing Partner. “His depth of trial experience, his reputation among clients and peers, and his commitment to his community make him an ideal fit for EFC. We are proud to welcome him and his staff to our team.”

“The theme connecting all of our growth in 2026 is simple,” added Lauren F. Olanoff, a partner and the firm’s Chief Operating Officer. “We are bringing together the best lawyers in this region — people who share our values, our commitment to clients, and our love of this community — and giving them the resources and the colleagues to do their best work.”

Kevin, for his part, expressed enthusiasm about joining the EFC family. “Throughout my career, I have always admired the caliber of attorneys at Egan, Flanagan and Cohen and the firm’s standing in this community,” he said. “Joining EFC gives me and my staff the platform and the colleagues to continue doing the work we love, and to do it at the highest level.”

“What also drew me here is the firm’s investment in its younger attorneys,” Giordano added. “The opportunity to contribute to the professional growth of the next generation of lawyers — while continuing to do meaningful work for clients — is something I look forward to greatly.”

At present, Egan, Flanagan and Cohen has eight associate attorneys, nine 2026 summer associates and law clerks, and two additional new attorneys have been hired to join the firm in the fall after the 2026 bar examination.

A Pattern of Purposeful Growth

Kevin’s addition is the fourth significant announcement of 2026 for EFC — and each one has followed the same deliberate logic: identifying attorneys of exceptional standing, deep community roots, and complementary expertise, and welcoming them into a firm built on more than a century of trusted service.

Together, Goldsmith, Argenio, Cropsey, and Giordano bring decades of combined legal experience to EFC. Their arrival pairs powerfully with the firm’s steady pipeline of talented associate attorneys — with at least two more expected to join EFC upon swearing in later this year — creating a model of mentorship and collaboration that serves clients at every level of complexity.

Thomas E. Day, Esq., a partner and the firm’s Chief Financial Officer, echoed his firm’s sentiment. “Kevin Giordano has spent his career handling the most demanding cases in one of the most challenging areas of the law. His experience in the courtroom — and his judgment outside of it — will be an enormous asset to EFC’s litigation practice and to the attorneys who work alongside him.”

EFC will continue to explore opportunities for strategic growth in the months ahead. For now, we are proud to welcome Kevin C. Giordano, Esq., and his staff — and grateful that they have chosen to make EFC their home.
